Buying a commercial flour mill is the first step. Installing it correctly is what determines whether your machine runs efficiently, quietly, and safely for years — or gives you problems from day one. Here is a complete, practical guide to installing a commercial atta chakki at your shop.

Step 1: Prepare the Site

Space requirements: A 14-inch commercial flour mill needs roughly 3 feet × 3 feet of floor space, plus 2–3 feet clearance on all sides for operation, cleaning, and maintenance access. Don't install against a wall so tightly that you can't reach the drive side of the machine.

Flooring: The machine must sit on a flat, level concrete or stone floor. If your floor is uneven, get it levelled first — vibration from an uneven machine causes premature bearing wear and loose fasteners. A simple spirit level is enough to verify this.

Ventilation: Flour dust is a real concern in enclosed spaces. Ensure your shop has adequate ventilation — either open windows, an exhaust fan, or both. A flour dust-filled shop is a fire hazard and a health risk for the operator.

Step 2: Electrical Connection

This step requires a licensed electrician for safety and compliance.

Step 3: Mount the Machine

Once the electrical connection is ready, position the machine. Use the four anchor holes in the base frame to bolt the machine to the floor with M12 or M16 anchor bolts (expansion bolts). This prevents the machine from walking during operation and reduces vibration noise.

Level the machine using a spirit level on the feed hopper platform. Adjust with washers under the base feet if needed before final tightening.

Step 4: Install the Motor and Belt

If the motor is not pre-fitted (many commercial machines are sold without motor for flexibility of choice):

⚠️ Safety Note: Never operate the machine without the belt guard in place. Rotating belts and pulleys cause serious injuries. The guard must be installed before the first test run.

Step 5: Test Run

Before adding grain, run the machine empty for 5–10 minutes. Listen for unusual noises (scraping, rattling, excessive vibration). Check that the drive belt runs straight without wobbling. Feel the bearing housings — slight warmth is normal, hot is not.

Then run 2–3 kg of wheat through to calibrate the stone gap and verify output quality. You're ready to serve customers once the flour texture meets your standard.
