That is why the majority of our Punjab enquiries are from shop owners in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala who want to sell fresh atta over the counter rather than stock branded bags.
Wheat is the easy part. What decides the machine size is the second and third item on your list. Punjab shops also grind makki (maize) for makki di roti through winter, plus chana dal for besan and haldi or mirchi in small lots. Maize is softer and oilier than wheat, so a stone that clogs will slow you down every December. Diamond stone handles the switch between wheat and maize without a taki session in between, which is the main reason our Punjab customers move away from emery.
Three phase power is widely available in Punjab, including in villages, because of agricultural connections. If you have a three phase line, the 16 inch at 60 to 80 kg per hour is usually the better economic choice than running two smaller machines. If you are on a single phase domestic connection in a city market, the 14 inch on 3 HP is the largest you should attempt.
For transport, road freight from our Mumbai factory to Punjab runs up the NH48 corridor through Gujarat and Rajasthan. We crate the machine and hand it to the transporter; you pay freight at delivery. Machines are supplied without motor so you can buy a motor locally, which is cheaper for you and avoids paying freight on the heaviest single part.
For a normal city shop selling 200 to 400 kg of atta a day, the 14 inch at 35 to 40 kg per hour is the usual choice. It runs on a 3 HP single phase motor, so you do not need a three phase connection. If you are already selling more than 500 kg a day, go to the 16 inch.
Yes. You grind wheat, then run a small quantity of maize through to clear the stone, then continue. With diamond stone you do not need to stop and cut the stone between grains, which is the problem people have with emery stone.
