Maharashtra is the largest jowar producing state in India, and jowar bhakri is daily food across Marathwada, Vidarbha and western Maharashtra. That gives the state a grinding pattern you do not see in the wheat belt. A Maharashtra chakki spends much of its day on jowar and bajra rather than wheat, and jowar flour is bought fresh in small quantities because it does not keep.
This is also our home state, which makes a practical difference. Our factory is in Vasai Virar and our showroom is in Dahisar East, Mumbai, so Maharashtra customers can come and watch the machine running with their own grain before paying anything. We encourage it. Bring a kilo of your jowar and see the flour it produces.
Sizing follows the business. City shops in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur mostly take the 14 inch on 3 HP single phase, because commercial single phase connections are the norm and 35 to 40 kg per hour covers a colony shop. Larger mills in the sugar belt and in Vidarbha take the 16 inch or 18 inch on three phase.
