The 12 inch: big home, small counter

The 12 inch sits between a household machine and a shop machine. At 20 to 25 kg per hour on a 2 HP single phase motor, it handles a joint family easily, and it is the smallest machine we would put behind a retail counter.

It suits three situations well. A large household grinding for several families. A shop that sells modest quantities of fresh atta as an add-on rather than a main line. And a specialist grinder, someone selling fresh besan, ragi flour or a millet mix in small premium quantities where the value is in freshness rather than volume.

What it is not is a full time commercial machine. If customers will be standing and waiting, or you expect to move more than roughly 150 kg in a day, the 14 inch is the correct choice and the price difference is small compared with the frustration of an undersized machine.

Power is straightforward. 2 HP single phase runs on a normal commercial or domestic connection, so you do not need a three phase sanction. The machine ships without a motor so you buy locally.

Body is cast iron, stone is diamond, and there is no weekly taki. That last point matters more at this size than people expect, because a part time operator is exactly the person who will not keep up with a weekly cutting schedule.

Questions we get from 12 inch buyers

12 inch ya 14 inch, kaunsa lein?

Agar din bhar mein 150 kg se kam peesna hai to 12 inch theek hai. Usse zyada, ya customer wait karta hai, to 14 inch lijiye. Price ka farak kam hai, pareshani ka farak zyada.

Does it need three phase?

No. The 12 inch runs on a 2 HP single phase motor, which works on a normal connection.

Can I grind besan and masala in it?

Besan yes, in moderate batches. For chilli and strong spices in any volume we suggest a separate machine, because the smell carries into atta afterwards.
